Reports To: Chief Commercial Officer
The Vice President, Medical Affairs is a new position at the Company, responsible for building the Medical Affairs function and accountable for developing and executing the overall Medical Affairs strategy, working closely with the Chief Medical Officer. The candidate will have a small team initially, supported by external consultants and/or agencies as needed to plan and execute key Medical Affairs functions. This is a critical leadership position with joint accountability to commercialize a late stage drug and maximize the long term potential of the other assets of the company. This position will report to the Chief Commercial Officer.
- Developing and maintaining positive professional relationships within the medical community
- Facilitating and/or delivering scientific/medical information and clinical/research findings through symposia, lectures and Advisory Boards
- Developing and executing a publication plan in collaboration with the clinical organization
- Identifying current and future business opportunities based on emerging medical and healthcare practices
- Direct, manage and build a group of Clinical Scientists
- Direct market development activities, translating clinical data to outside healthcare professionals
- Direct, manage and build publication strategy and publication planning programs
- Direct, manage and build medical education and Continuing Medical Education (CME) programs
- Collaborate with Clinical to identify and implement clinical studies
- Review/approve clinical protocols and clinical study reports for medical content and interpretation
- Present medical information on the Company’s products at meetings with various State and Federal agencies and therapeutic committees as needed
- Work on business development and partnership alliances
- Direct and take a leadership role in the design, modification, development and implementation of company compliance practices and policies
- Doctorate Degree in Medicine (MD) required
- Specialty in neurology, CNS or Alzheimer’s Disease strongly preferred
- Prior management experience required
- Industry experience preferred
- Excellent verbal and written skills
- Ability to work collaboratively
